Wellness Vision Statement
The University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Family Medicine Residency places an emphasis on resident, faculty, and staff wellness. Our goal is to cultivate an environment that allows our residents, faculty, and staff to engage in effective behaviors to promote overall health and well-being. While we recognize that wellness is an individualized process, our approach focuses on self-awareness and skill building to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Refuel Stations
Our ambulatory clinics at Flowood Family Medicine and Lakeland Medical Building are equipped with “Refuel Stations”. These are stations that include snacks and water to help fuel an energy boost or morale boost when needed for our residents, faculty, and staff.
Wellness Days
Residents of the UMMC Family Medicine Residency Program receive two Wellness ½ Days per year. Residents may utilize these days to engage in necessary wellness activities including self-care, appointments, etc.
Wellness Day at the Park
To promote physical activity and team building, each year the Department of Family Medicine Residency hosts a Wellness Day at the Park for our residents. During this event, our residents engage in physical activity games and exercises while team building.
